Associate Medical Director - Pediatrics

Our roots began in 1981 as the Montrose Clinic, with specialization in HIV education, testing, and treatment. Since then, the agency has expanded to 10 clinics in Houston, one in Baytown, two in Beaumont, and one in Deer Park with extensive services that include: Adult primary care, HIV/AIDS care, pediatrics, OB/GYN and maternity, dental, vision and behavioral health. We also service students within KIPP and YES Prep schools. Legacy is committed to driving healthy change in our communities.

Associate Medical Director (AMD) supports the Medical Director (MD) in overseeing the respective service line.

Essential Functions

  • Assist the Medical Director with the following:

     Routine Job Expectations:

    • Clinician’s PTO management in collaboration with SD, including holiday schedules and blackout periods as determined by the organization.
    • Management of CME time and reimbursement requests.
    • Service recovery reports (Patient complaints).
    • Guidance to individual clinicians about patient terminations, in collaboration with compliance.
    • Supervise/manage clinicians at site level.
    • Manage behavioral concern pertaining to clinician
    • Provider on-boarding as determined by on boarding procedure.
    • Provider off-boarding as determined by off boarding procedure.
    • Provide support to on site clinicians with logjams and workflow issues.
    • Check in with clinicians at their site routinely.
    • Schedule at least one half day at clinic site for onsite visit per week
    • Support clinicians with schedule templates, coverage, daily issues, and locums (in collaboration with SD).
    • Assist with panel management
    • Oversight of productivity and quality of assigned team members
    • Meet with assigned SD and other AMD at least monthly
    • Will be assigned to PMO (Project Management Office) as needed, to attend and represent the clinical perspective of the agency
    • Assist in Ongoing Chart Review monitoring
    • Assist with recruitment and interviewing as requested.
    • Desktop coverage as necessary
    • In collaboration with MD, complete performance reviews as required (90 day, yearly, etc.).
    • Serve as a mentor to help guide clinician as needed
    • Participate as backup on call
    • Lead service line specific all provider monthly meeting if MD is not available, with adequate notice from MD to allow for preparation.
    • In collaboration with MD, to oversee locums labs and desktop
    • Assist in organizing team building activities
    • Maintain regular clinic hours for a percentage of FTE as determined with Medical Director, as detailed on the service line’s clinical job description.
    • Maintain CLIA license and SDO for their home clinic
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Graduate from an accredited medical school as M.D., D.O.
  • Primary Care Specialty (Pediatrics, OB/Gyn, Adult Medicine, Family Practice, Psychiatry)
  • Credentialed and privileged according to Legacy’s standards and practice

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Graduate from an accredited medical school as M.D., D.O.

Credentialed and privileged according to Legacy’s standards and practices

WORK EXPERIENCE:

At least 2 years of management experience

Experience in managing other employed physicians or peers
