Marketing - Intern

Legacy Community Health is a premium, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides comprehensive care to community members regardless of their ability to pay. Our goal is to treat the entire patient while improving their overall wellness and quality of life, in addition to providing free pregnancy tests, HIV/AIDS screening. At Legacy, we empower patients to lead better lives by promoting healthy behaviors and offering resources such as literacy classes, family planning services, and nutrition and weight management information.


Our roots began in 1981 as the Montrose Clinic, with specialization in HIV education, testing, and treatment. Since then, the agency has expanded to over 50 clinics across Houston, Baytown, Beaumont, Deer Park and Stafford with extensive services that include: adult primary care, behavioral health, dental, HIV care, OB/GYN, pediatrics, pharmacy, senior care, vaccinations & immunizations, and vision. We also provide primary care and behavioral health therapy services to students through our over 30 school-based health clinics in KIPP, YES Prep and Galena Park schools. Legacy is committed to driving healthy change in our communities.

Job Description

This position is a summer internship working with Marketing and Communications.

Essential Functions

  • Writing projects/website/social media content development (help us build up our resource designed to empower teens on their health and wellness)
  • Helping to conduct and/or participate in focus groups on teen health
  • Video projects: We are planning several video series and need videographers, script writers and participants in the videos. Each series will include 3-5 videos, and each video will be 2-5 minutes in length. Legacy staff will supervise and lend their skills. For example, there will be a series on health and wellness (e.g., “Healthy Snack Hacks,“ “How to build up to run or walk a mile,” “Exercises you can do anywhere to build up core muscle strength,” “Why get vaccinated”)
  • Research projects
  • Graphic design projects: Help us create graphics on Canva for our TeenWell Instagram account.
  • Back-to-School back pack drive: we provide backpacks to underserved children and need help packing them with school supplies (will take place at our warehouse of a clinic
  • Little Readers: Our Little Readers programs provides a free book to every pediatric patient from newborn to 17-years-old as part of a prescription to read

Education & Training Requirements

  • High school Junior status or above

All volunteer positions require participants to pass Background Check, Drug Test, and if patient facing will be required to prove immunity to MMR.
